Interpretive Tours of the Old North Trail
Two interpretive tours of the Old North Trail will be offered during the summer of 2022.
These tours will be led by Dave and V.V. Shea, Jim Nys and David Hartman.
The history of the Old North Trail will be discussed. On the North Tour, July 9th, 2022 you will be able to see the Big Ring, Tepee Rings, Vision Quest sites, Eagle Trap, Antelope Butte Cairns and several sections of the Old North Trail.
On the South Tour , August 13th, 2022, you will see Big Bear’s cabin, adjacent North Trail and markers, the Metis Cemetery and History Sign, Buffalo Drive Cairn lanes, Tepee Rings, the Pothole Archaeological site, Buffalo Jump sites, Eagle Trap and Old North Trail segments. In addition, on both tours we will discuss the geology, local flora, and wildlife as we go.
More details will be published in the Great Falls Tribune Hot Ticket and the Choteau Acantha a few weeks prior to the dates of these events.
If you have not had the opportunity to go on one of these tours now is the time to sign up. These tours are so informative and brings you back to the late 1800’s and early 1900’s and how our pioneers lived and where they lived.
There are many artifacts still there. Sign up sheets will be available at the Museum after it opens in May, 2022.
