Teton Bear Smart is a local organization in Teton County, Montana, focused on preventing and reducing human-bear conflict through education and outreach. Teton County, Montana is home to both North American bear species and is the heart of the last place on Earth where grizzlies roam their ancestral prairies. The Old Trail Museum is a proud partner of Teton Bear Smart in their mission to envision and create a long term future of peaceful coexistence with these magnificent creatures.
Teton Bear Smart Bear Spray Loaner Program
Teton Bear Smart has partnered with the Old Trail Museum, the Stage Stop Inn and Choteau Mountainview RV Park to provide a bear spray loaner for visitors and residents. Stop in at any of these locations and grab a canister for recreation or work FREE OF CHARGE!


Each summer, the Old Trail Museum hosts Teton Bear Smart’s Bear Fair, an educational event with bear and bear safety exhibits from several partners, including federal and state wildlife agencies, non-profit organizations and bear safety product manufacturers.
Activities include bear safety workshops for adults and children, such as bear spray workshops (with inert bear spray), electric fence demonstrations, and more.
